As president of Wincore Window Company in Parkersburg, WV, I have worked with Cam on several initiatives over the past 10 years. Cam truly understands the local, regional and State landscape as well as the needs of businesses. As such, Cam has been instrumental in facilitating the right introductions as well as helping to guide us in determining the correct approach to certain business decisions. His direct help and involvement with the local economic development authority allowed Wincore to pursue growth opportunities that may not otherwise have been achievable.

Cam and I worked together in the Governor’s Office for the State of WV, the Wise administration. Though we were each special assistants, our issue areas did not often overlap. Despite our technically separate spheres of work, I always perceived us to be on the same team, and while one might think that would be a given, it was not something to be taken for granted. Cam is a genuinely kind and intelligent person, and he has the grace and humility of a true public servant. That is a valuable characteristic in short supply these days. Effectively influencing public policy is a nuanced and complicated task, and Cam has the the tools. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Cam for the past few years as we tirelessly worked to put the children of West Virginia first when it comes to their experiences and outcomes in family courts. I’m simply a dad, a parent, who was fighting for more time with his child. I learned a few years back that I was nowhere close to alone in that fight. Cam was right there with me, as were hundreds of people I have met along the way. The difference is that Cam knew his way around government relations, and he knew his way around well. With his guidance and perseverance, our group was able to learn quickly on the fly how we can best influence legislators as we work to push quality bills forward as he worked behind the scenes. Cam’s relationships with the legislators led to productivity and quick turnaround times that were integral in meeting the milestones and time restrictions that exist in the state legislative process. This was a labor of love for Cam, as it has held a very personal meaning to him. His “why” is the same as mine, his children, and that’s truly what he worked to put first…not only his children, but all children in WV who have or will go through family courts. I’ve learned a lot from Cam, and I’ve built some great relationships thanks to him. I can’t wait to see how much more good that he will do throughout the years.

Cam volunteered for the National Parents Organization on getting a law passed that presumes equal time with both parents is in a child’s best interest if the parents are healthy. His communication ability showed when Senate Bill 463 passed both chambers with overwhelming majorities. Further, Governor Justice signed the bill too. Cam demonstrated the ability to work with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle while doing so as a volunteer. I had the pleasure of seeing Cam’s work first hand in 2021. He coordinated my testimony on child custody legislation at a House committee meeting. I personally witnessed his comfortable style leading to personal relationships with many lawmakers. Cam was so effective and professional that the National Parents Organization asked him to help advise volunteers in other states. Cam is as effective a volunteer lobbyist as I’ve seen in all the states in which I’ve worked.

Cam has become an invaluable part of my extended sales team. He seeks first to understand our route to market and potential obstacles to success. He is always cognizant of the strict guidelines during an RFP process and never acts in a way that could jeopardize our being awarded a contract. He has mastered the art of navigating legislative, political, and regulatory issues to help us better understand the intricacies of working with government entities. He is highly communicative and there’s never any doubt he is acting on our behalf. What makes Cam extraordinary is his integrity. He would never violate a trust. He is highly respected and there’s never any doubt as to the validity of his information and guidance.
